Some examples of locks and bridges survive today while others have succumbed to demolition or even infilling. Industrialists took advantage of the waterways system\u00a0 building their factories and warehouses next to the canals.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p><p>This collection of photographs will show aspects of the canal network only usually seen by the watermen, from close up views of locks to towering warehouses and wharfs.\u00a0<\/p><p><b>Hover your cursor over the photograph and you will see a short title.
